One of my recommended locations near Split is Podstrana. Podstrana village is only 10 km southeast of Split. It offers a large number of hotels, private apartments, rooms, all facing the sea.
The advantage of Podstrana, first of all, are prices, lower and more convenient. Secondly, Podstrana is close to Split, connected with frequent and regular local bus services.

Many locals own and rent apartments in Split. This is a common way in Croatia to make extra income.

Split doesn’t have large hotels. Besides a few exceptions, like Radisson Blu or Cornaro, most split hotels have less than 100 rooms, and most of the hotels in Split Croatia are in a range of up to 20 rooms.
You won't find typical Split luxury hotels or 5-star hotels in Split Croatia. You will find instead lovely boutique hotels set in historic buildings and labeled as a Heritage hotel.
